Product overview

TRANSITION MIX is designed for the period around calving, when dry-matter intake often falls while nutrient demand rises sharply. A professionally balanced transition ration can support calcium mobilization, energy balance, immunity and a smoother start to lactation. Negative-DCAD ingredients must be used only as part of a properly formulated complete ration.

Suitable for

Pregnant dairy cows and heifers during the close-up period and early days after calving

Key benefits

  • Supports calcium metabolism around calving
  • Helps reduce transition-period metabolic stress
  • Supports immunity and fresh-cow recovery
  • Prepares the rumen for rising production demand

Recommended feeding

  1. Begin approximately 21 days before expected calving as part of the farm's close-up ration.
  2. Use approximately 2-3 kg per animal per day, subject to complete-ration formulation.
  3. Blend uniformly with suitable low-potassium forage and good-quality silage.
  4. Continue or transition to a fresh-cow ration for approximately 14-21 days after calving, as professionally advised.

Feeding and management guidance

  • Use only under qualified nutrition or veterinary guidance, especially when the ration uses negative DCAD.
  • Avoid uncontrolled use with high-potassium forage because it may reduce the intended dietary effect.
  • Measure the quantity accurately; do not add randomly to the trough.
  • Monitor appetite, manure, calving recovery and signs of metabolic illness; obtain veterinary help promptly when required.

Frequently asked questions

What is the transition period?

It generally covers the final three weeks before calving and the first two to three weeks after calving, when the cow undergoes major nutritional and metabolic change.

Can Transition Mix be added to any ration?

No. Its mineral and DCAD profile must be matched to forage and the complete ration by a qualified professional.

Please note: Use the final pack label as the controlling product specification. Adjust the complete ration to the animal and seek professional advice for high-yielding, pregnant, newly calved or unwell animals.
